Hey, this is Jason Moss from BehindTheSpeakers.com, and today I'm gonna show you five of the best places to get multitracks for mixing practice.
If you're trying to level up as a mixer, if you're trying to improve your skills, I recommend that you download these multitracks on a regular basis and practice mixing different genres and styles. And put yourself in situations that are kind of uncomfortable. This is one of the best ways to improve as a mixer.
Now there are hundreds of different multitracks you can download through these five sites. Av voice changer download free. But if you're looking for the best place to get started, I put together something that I call the Multitrack Mixing Challenge, which is five different multitracks that I've selected because I think these specific multitracks will provide you with some curve balls and really present some unique challenges that will help you level up your mixing skills. Go ahead and click the link in the description below or on the video, and you'll get free instant access. So, let's dive into the sites.
The first site is Mike Senior's Mixing Secrets Library. This is like the Holy Grail when it comes to the best place to get multitracks on the internet. Hundreds of different multitracks of every genre, pop to stoner rock to death metal. Whatever you want, you can find it here. Adobe acrobat reader 2015 download. So, if you're looking for a one-stop shop for free multitracks, this is the place to go. So if you wanna check this out, I put links to all of these sites in the description below.
The second site is hosted by Telefunken. Telefunken makes great microphones, and to showcase these mics, they put together a collection of multitracks with sessions that were all recorded exclusively with Telefunken microphones. There's a mix here between sessions that were recorded in a studio kind of more traditionally and also sessions that were recorded live, where the band was playing together, and there's lots of bleed between the different tracks, and there's a live audience. So, if you're looking for practice mixing live tracks, I recommend that you check this out, because there's a lot of really great live sessions here that will give you experience of working specifically with some of those challenges that come with managing bleed and some of that stuff that happens when you record things live. Again, all the links to all of these sites are available in the description.
The third site is Shaking Through. Now, Shaking Through is a series that was put together by an organization called Weathervane Music. Every month they bring in a new artist into the studio and take you inside that whole process. So they show you exactly how they recorded everything and take detailed notes of the entire process, and really give you a look inside the process of making a record. So, it's a really awesome series, but as part of this program, they also give you access to the multitracks. So, there is a kind of premium version where you have to pay, I think it's a certain amount per month, and you get access to all of the past recordings. But if you just sign up for free, you get access to the previous month's recordings. So, you can download those right away. All this stuff that they record tends to lean towards indie rock, so it's more kind of niche in terms of the genre. But these recordings and the bands that they bring in are really awesome. It's really high quality stuff. So, I think this is one of the best places to get multitracks specifically within the indie rock genre.
The fourth site is pureMix. pureMix was started by Fab Dupont, who's a mixer based out of New York City. And on the site, there's lots of great training and tutorials for mixers and people who are trying to level up their mixing skills. So, I definitely recommend you check it out if you're trying to improve as a mixer anyways. But as part of the site, there's also lots of great multitracks available. And some of them you have to pay for, but a lot of them are actually available for free, including a track by David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. So, if you're looking for some really high quality multitracks of various different genres, I think this is a great place to get 'em.
And the fifth site is Indaba Music. Indaba's a little bit different than the other sites we covered here because it hosts competitions for music-makers. So you can submit songs, compete in a songwriting competition, or you can submit remixes for remix competitions. But they also host a lot of mixing competitions. As part of these mixing competitions, they'll offer multitracks for download, and you'll be able to mix these tracks and then submit them to be in competition with hundreds of different mixers around the world. So, if you're looking for a great place to get multitracks, this can be a great resource as well. The only downside is that sometimes the competitions close, and then the multitracks aren't available anymore. So, go to the site, check it out, and scroll through. See if there are any active competitions. And go take a look at some of the old ones, and see if you can grab some of the multitracks. This can be a great way to get multitracks in a variety of different genres, as well as if you're looking for some competition to kind of see where you compare to other mixers around the world.
At this point, if you're a little bit overwhelmed, it's totally okay. There's just so many different resources available. And so many different multitracks you can download. But if you're looking for a great place to get started, I put together a Multitrack Mixing Challenge, which is just a list of five multitracks that I've hand-selected from all these different sites because I think they present you with some unique challenges that will really help you improve your mixing skills. So, if you're up for the challenge, again, you can download this by clicking the link in the description below, or in the video, and you'll get free instant access.
